Answers
How do I get a quote?
You can get an instant quote price using our online calculator or if you prefer you can send us a simple plan or diagram of your worktop requirements, including all measurements and design specifications and we will email you a quote. You can send you plan to us by fax on 0845 330 7641 or as an email attachment to quote@unicom-direct.com. It may be possible for us to take your worktop specification over the telephone, but we will usually have to send your quote by email and this can often take longer than if you send your request by email. Can I get a sample?
We are happy to provide samples of the Apollo® Slab Tech material. There is a postage and packing cost of £5 per sample. Visit the worktop samples page to request a sample.Your Apollo® Slab Technology worktops are cheaper than I've seen elsewhere, are they seconds?
No, we buy direct from the manufacturer and due to our longstanding business partnership we receive large discounts which we pass straight on to our customers. All our worktops are the highest quality supplied for the lowest possible price.Apollo® Slab worktops are more expensive elsewhere, why is this?
As the biggest online worktop presence, our sales volumes mean we receive the best discounts from suppliers. All our product information is online and without showrooms with large overheads we can pass more of the discount from our suppliers on to you, our customer. What is the cost of Apollo® Slab per metre?
Apollo® Slab Tech modular worktops start at GBP 208.00 (inc VAT) for a 1212x625x30mm worktop - select a colour to view other sizes. We can also fabricate Apollo® Slab to your specific requirements and offer a full template & installation service. In this case, the best way to get an accurate price is to use our online quote calculator which will give you an instant onscreen price. Is there any price difference between the Apollo® Slab colours?
No. All the colours are the same price. Is Apollo® Slab cheaper than Granite or Corian®?
Yes. In most cases Apollo® Slab Technology will be less expensive than Granite or Corian®. However, the best way to check your specific requirements is to use our online calculators where you can get an accurate onscreen price for each of these materials.Your company is based in Scotland, do you supply all the UK?
We supply and fit Nationwide - throughout mainland UK. We offer both delivery only and our full template & installation service for this material.Does someone visit us to check measurements?
If you have chosen our template & installation service our fitter will carry out a template appointment prior to manufacture of your worktops. This visit will last approx. 2 hours and all final measurements and specification will be confirmed at that stage. If your order is 'delivery only' you, the customer, will be responsible for providing accurate measurements and a 'signed off' drawing. What style of sink do you recommend?
The style of sink you choose is entirely up to you. Standard inset, undermounted, Belfast style and even moulded sinks can complement Apollo® Slab worktops. The moulded Apollo® Slab sinks provide a seamless finish to your design in a clean fresh white colour with single or one and a half bowl options.Do you sell sinks & hobs?
Yes we sell sinks. Unfortunately we don't sell hobs at this time. Our range of sinks and taps can be viewed on our www.kitchen-sinks-taps.co.uk website. However, if you are looking for that seamless finish, you can choose an Apollo® moulded sink as part of the quote process online. What if you don't supply the sink or tap that I want?
You can choose any sink or tap. If it is not one of our website collection call us on 0845 330 7642 as we may be able to source it for you. If you already have your sink or wish to purchase one elsewhere, please ensure it is available on site for template. Is Apollo® Slab Technology scratchproof?
Apollo® Slab Tech is scratch resistant, not scratchproof. However, the beauty of this material is that surface scratches can be polished out as part of the cleaning process making Apollo® Slab a renewable surface. To minimise surface scratches and prevent more serious damage ALWAYS use a chopping board. Is Apollo® Slab Technology heat proof?
Again, heat resistant does not mean heat proof. ALWAYS use a trivet or consider installing pan bars.Do I complete my tiling before my worktop installation or after?
Tiling should be completed after the worktop has been installed as there will be a small gap at the back of the worktop to allow for expansion. The tiles will then cover this gap for the perfect finish. What preparations do I need to make before Template?
It is very important that you read the 'Important Worktop Template Information' in your quote email as this gives the full details of preparations for template. Your base units MUST be fixed in place and level with all existing worktops (if applicable) removed. Your sink, tap(s) and hob MUST be available on site, but must be disconnected as our fitter may need to move them to take accurate measurements.Do you need me to be present for the Template appointment?
It is very important that you are present at template as this is the stage at which FINAL details are confirmed and signed off. If an authorised person is present on your behalf, they MUST have full authority to answer questions regarding design which may have cost or installation implications.Do I fit my wall cupboards before or after the worktops are installed?
It is recommended that wall units are fitted after the worktop is installed. However, if you have existing wall units they do not need to be removed. If you have dresser units installed, these MUST be removed prior to template. We are unable to complete worktop installation if dresser units have been fitted. Are the joints in the Apollo® Slab composite material seamless?
Yes, like Corian®, Apollo® Slab worktop joints are designed to be seamless in nature. Seamless does not mean invisible and with some colours/designs you may see a paper-width line on close inspection. However, you should not feel the joint when running your hand over the worktop surface. How do Apollo® Slab worktops look when combined with other materials?
You can create many design possibilities with an Apollo® Slab Tech worktop. Equally at home alongside wood, ceramics, stone, glass or stainless steel Apollo® Slab Tech can help to generate either a classic or modern style. This versatile material can be used to create a fully co-ordinated look with matching splash back and integrated sink or as a centrepiece in combination with other textures and finishes.Do Apollo® Slab worktops have a gloss finish?
Apollo® Slab composite worktops have a polished finish, although not as high gloss as stone. The surface finish is a silky smooth sheen.Do your fitters carry out any necessary plumbing work?
All plumbing work including disconnection and reconnection of sink/taps will require the services of a qualified plumber. Our fitters do not carry out any plumbing work.Is the sink fitted to my worktop during installation?
Yes. However, moulded Apollo® Slab Tech sinks will be fitted during fabrication and will arrive on site already integrated in the worktop. If you are using an undermounted ceramic sink the may be additional support requirements which are the customer's responsibility to provide and should be in place before the template appointment is completed.Who will connect my hob after my worktop is installed?
Please contact your electrician or gas engineer. Our fitters will not carry out any disconnection or re-connection work.Do you need me to be present at installation?
As with the template appointment it is very important that you are present at installation as you, the customer, are responsible for checking the installation and signing our fitter's paperwork to confirm your satisfaction. If you wish an authorised person to be present, they MUST have full authority to confirm satisfactory installation on your behalf. Are Apollo® Slab worktops repairable?
Light scratching or damage can be repaired - just follow the instructions in the care and maintenance leaflet provided with your worktops. Even more severe damage can be repaired professionally although there may be a charge for this service. What happens if I want to add to my Apollo® Slab worktops at a later date?
You can add to your Apollo® Slab Tech worktops at a later date. However, please bear in mind that is may not be possible to colour match your existing worktops exactly due to shade variances in the material which is batch processed. Are Apollo® Slab worktops easy to clean?
Yes. Apollo® Slab Technology is non porous so marks and stains cannot penetrate the material. Simply clean your work surfaces regularly with a mild detergent and for any stubborn marks or light scratches use a slightly abrasive cleaner such as 'Barkeeper's Friend' which is available in supermarkets. Full cleaning information is detailed in the care and maintenance leaflet supplied with your Apollo® Slab worktops.I don't know how to enter my requirements into your online calculator.
If the design requirements you have don't seem to fit the choices on our online calculator simply send us a simple plan or diagram of your worktop layout including sizes and specification and we will be happy to email you a quote. You can fax your plan to us on 0845 330 7641 or email it as an attachment to quote@unicom-direct.com.What is the process for ordering a worktop?
You can choose to order the modular range of Apollo® Slab composite worktops from our website using our secure add to cart and checkout services. Select a colour to begin. If you require made-to-measure worktops with full template and installation service, you will first need to receive a quote from us. If this is your preferred way to order, simply select a colour to view available sizes and prices. We deliver Nationwide, throughout mainland UK.Do Apollo® Slab worktops require a lot of maintenance?
