Technical Information

• Always leave a gap of at least 3mm where your worktop is positioned between 2 walls as Quicktops® solid surface can expand as much as 1mm/mtr.
• Maximum unsupported overhang 300mm. If there is a span of worktop without base units it must be supported every 600mm.
• Minimum 50mm gap between electric hob and upstand, 100mm if gas hob.
• Minimum requirement 50mm from a cut out to the front edge.
• Minimum requirement 130mm between cut outs.
• Plastering or tiling should be completed after installation.
• Always use chopping boards when preparing or chopping food - scratch resistant does not mean scratch proof
• Quicktops® solid surface worktops are stain resistant, but it is recommended that spills should be dealt with immediately
• Quicktops® Solid Surface is repairable - surface scratches can be polished out using an abrasive cleaner and a scouring pad - more serious damage can be repaired professionally
• DO NOT place hot pans directly on the worktop, always use pan rests
• Aluminium thermal insulation tape MUST be used around hob cuts to avoid heat conduction causing cracks in the worktop.
• An aluminium foil membrane is required on the underside of the worktop where you have heat-producing appliances - such as a dishwasher, washer or cooker - to deflect heat and moisture.
• Dark, heavily pigmented colours will show scratches, dust and ordinary wear and tear more readily than light or textured colours and should not be used for areas of heavy use such as kitchens.
• Apollo® Quicktops® Solid Surface is tested to BS6222: Part 3 1999 durability of finish for worktops by FIRA.
